Effective 4/18/2008, the tax rate for Plexus has been changed to 30%. This money will be collected and then divided for military and government salaries, corp. expenses (including office rent) & dividends to the shareholders.

It has long been a goal of Plexus to find a way to compensate its military and continue to advance towards our goal of changing the face of Eve for the better. We have found a system that will enable us to pay all of our soldiers a salary, pay future governmental workers in different branches yet to be determined, and in the future create government programs which aid our citizens. At the same time, this system will maximize the profits made by individual pilots in industry, far exceeding what they could have made working in a division.

Running Missions: Completion of NPC missions will result in an automatic deduction of 30% taxes from the mission reward and rat bounties. There is no need for you to do anything. See the selling items section below for details on selling loot, salvage, alloys etc. that may be obtained while on missions.

Selling Items: Selling items is taxed at 30% as well. Unfortunately, there is no game function to automatically deduct this tax so we will have to rely on our members to track this and then pay accordingly. We do not want you to pay 30% on the entire amount received for your item but rather only the amount that is actual profit.

In some cases, finding the profit is very simple. If you purchase or manufacture an item for 1,000,000 isk and then sell the item for 1,500,000 isk your profit would be 500,000 isk. You do not pay tax on the 1,500,000 sell price but rather the 500,000 profit. 500,000 x .30 = 150,000. Your tax due on this item would be 150,000.

Sometimes figuring profit is a little more complex. Generally this will be when you salvage, loot an item or mine ore. People often say there is no actual cost involved in these actions. However, please remember that your time is valuable and has a cost attached to it. In this situation, you will want to assign a “cost value” to your goods. Please see this thread by Alsandair for an example of how to determine your cost value. Determining your cost value on items will enable you to pay tax on a portion of the sale rather than the whole sale. It may be a bit of a hassle, but it will save you money while still allowing you to support the corp.

Payments For Services Rendered: If you receive a payment for your service to others, this also will be taxed at 30%. Again, there is no function in game for tracking this so you will have to be responsible for keeping up with this. Possible examples of services rendered could be refining ore, bookkeeping, probing, mining (if you give them the ore), manufacturing services, mission assistance, couriering goods etc. There are many services a person can provide and we encourage you to be creative on this!

Tax Free Incomes: Dividend payments from the Bank of the Order of New Eden are not taxed. Government salaries are also not taxed. This includes government salaries paid to UDF members.

HOW TO PAY TAXES

Taxes are due on the 1^st of each month for the previous month. For example, March taxes are due April 1^st. Taxes should be sent to Plexus Tax. Please do not send taxes in advance unless you will be unavailable on the 1^st of the month.

If no profit has been earned, please send a mail to Plexus Tax advising her of the situation.

If you pay taxes on someone else’s behalf, please mail Plexus Tax along with your payment stating who you are paying for and how much you are paying on their behalf.

WHAT IF YOU DON’T PAY YOUR TAXES

Our system is now a Capitalist form of government. Taxes are the financial cornerstone of this system. Keep in mind the 30% tax of your profits is in direct relation to the success of the corporation and will benefit the whole, making us all more successful. If you violate your commitment on your taxes or commit tax fraud you will be kicked out of Plexus.

People who haven’t paid their taxes by the 7th will receive a private mail warning them they need to pay their taxes for the prior month. At this point you will need to send in an additional 5 million isk late fee.   On the 14th a corp mail will be sent listing members that still haven’t paid and reminding them to pay.  At this point you will be charged an additional 10 million isk in late fees.  On the 21st another corp mail will be sent listing those members that still have not followed through with their obligation.  At this point you will be charged an additional 15 million isk in late fees.  At the four week mark, you will receive a private warning if your taxes still haven’t been paid and will be charged an additional 20 million isk in late fees.  Two straight months of not paying your tax will result in expulsion from Plexus. Of course some pilots may have real life commitments causing an absence from Eve. If you have notified Alsandair properly of your leave, you will be excused during your absence and expected to resume tax payments upon your return.

The Plexus Expansion Act

The Plexus Expansion Act, hereby referred to in this document as the (P.E.A.), is an initiative developed by Alsandair Thraushtin, intended to give the individual Plexus Syndicate member ownership of their own P.O.S.(s) P.E.A. was developed for the extensive purpose of spreading The Plexus Syndicate presence as well as empowering the individual Plexus Syndicate member with their own means in which to make serious isk. This document will provide the guidelines and stipulations involved to those who are interested in P.E.A. Please note that those pilots who have their own P.O.S. violate Plexus regulations. All members wishing to own their own P.O.S. must have approval by Alsandair Thraushtin and Plexus Bank (if a loan is requested) under the binding auspices of P.E.A.

RULE: No member of The Plexus Syndicate can have their own P.O.S.(s) without submitting a succesful application into the P.E.A. Once approved you will then be labeled (P.E.A.). It will be a license to show you can in fact have a personal P.O.S. within The Plexus Syndicate.

This document was one of the most inspirational ideas I have ever had. This single document in effect, will over time, change our very own inter corporation governmental structure from a more socialized system to a more capitalistic system. The Plexus Expansion Act reminds me of America's Homestead Act. Go out and grab your land. This one simple document will in effect make all divisions obsolete, except for U.D.F... YOU will be, as an individual of The Plexus Syndicate, the very businesses that support our infrastructure. Each one of you now will represent a facet of industry. However, this does not change the fact that we will still and more than ever need the U.D.F. By accepting 30% taxes from the P.E.A. act and all pilots, as well as raising the overall corp tax to 30% we can, in time, afford to pay all of our soldiers a salary, pay future governmental workers in different branches yet to be determined, and in the future create government programs which aid our citizens. At the same time, this maximizes the profits made by individual pilots in industry 100 fold, far exceeding what they could have made working in a division.

From this point on there will only be two classes of pilots within the Plexus Syndicate:

Citizen - (All industrialists are now labeled Citizen)
Soldier - (Ranking System and Specializations Stay for all U.D.F.)

Citizens and soldiers alike are now required to pay a monthly tax of 30% on all profits, on all goods sold in the markets, and personal business ventures. Please note that you are being taxed 30% on all PROFITS... NOT TOTAL SALES. This tax payment goes to a character in our corporation labeled "Plexus Tax" who in turn will put this isk in the coffers of the Plexus Syndicate for the sole benefit of The Plexus Syndicate and for the shareholders of The Order of The Bank of New Eden. Please send the tax payment on the first of each month. The tax rate will be increased to 30%. Keep in mind that Americans get taxed at a rate of 36% on all income on average. We are switching to a capitalist government. The taxes will be used to keep our military stocked on what they need to defend our ideals as well as their salaries in the near future. It will also be used to increase monthly dividends to those who have invested in us. I repeat, our system is now a Capitalist form of government. If you violate your commitment on your taxes or commit tax fraud you will be kicked out of Plexus. At the end of the first week of each month those who have not paid their taxes on all personal profits, will be posted in a corp mail. A personal warning via eve-mail will be given if your taxes are still not paid at the end of a 4 week period. Two straight months of not paying your 30% tax will get you expelled. Of course some of you who have real life commitments and have notified me properly of your absence in EvE, will be omitted and expected to pay upon your return.

This is an honor based system. Since you are pilot's of Plexus I have no doubt of your honor and integrity. This means that I understand, as your CEO, you all understand our philosophy of We Are One. Keep in mind the 30% tax of your profits is in direct relation to the success of the corporation and will benefit the whole, making us all more successful. This new capitalistic model gives pilots more freedom to go where they wish, do what they wish, and have more fun. The work load will now be distributed evenly by the individual, who in turn makes up the whole. Work will no longer be unfairly put on the shoulders of those who have to bear the burden of others who aren't as active or do not make good on their promises to help. I will be making Bud Brigman Secretary of State & Meena Skuel Secretary of The Treasury. They have lent me amazing support and help amongst big adversity and I trust them to help me run this corporation with all the heart they have always put into Plexus. This new system will make each and every single, individual, pilot personally responsible for the success of The Plexus Syndicate... truly reflecting our nation's philosophy.
